eli5: How does someone mix metals?

I was watching a video yesterday explaining how a jet works and they talked about how the first jet would get to hot and melt the metal so they made a new type of metal that was a mix of nickel, chrome, steel, and molybdenum. I’m just curious how they mix all those metals together.

Just melt them and pour them all together.

This is often only the first step though, the cooling metal alloy may not form the desired internal crystal structure and cycles of heat treatments and cold working are often required to stop the atoms from just grouping back together like oil in water. The metals have different internal structures and don’t always like to form mixtures.
