They look at what music you listen to. They look at what music other people listen to. If a bunch of people listen to the same music as you, the algorithm will suggest the other songs they listen to to you, as you likely have similar musical tastes.

I don’t know how it works but i don’t like it’s recommendation and it’s song radio i only use Spotify when i wanna listen to a specific song or an artist otherwise i use yt music which is apparently good with it’s recommendations (because it’s steal most of your data)

The have a number of under-the-hood parameters they use to categorize songs, and then a bunch of parameters they deign a validation of their recommendation based on their parameters. It is very clearly genre biased, as a defined thing and not as a coincidence of tastes.
