eli5 How dose a hose freeze mid air?

Basically as title suggests. The other day I saw a busted hose from a car wash frozen in mid air and wanted to know how that works? It isn’t the first time I’ve seen a hose frozen like that. If it’s moving around swaying back and forth while in the air how would it freeze?

Because the fluid is under pressure, the water gets colder than freezing. Once the pressure is released, it’s already colder than freezing and freezes instantly as soon as there is room for expansion. Until it’s released it can’t freeze.
