Eli5: Just read an article on here the scientist have reversed age memory loss in mice….how do they know? How is it tested?

Usually when testing the memory of lab animals you’ll train them to do some simple task (like navigate a maze, or under which color obstacle food is hidden). Then you can test to see if they remember how to do said task, and how it compares to the control group.

If you have the article in question, it’ll probably link to the original research paper, which should contain information on how exactly they tested memory.
