Canadian government has passed a bill C-18 which requires internet companies linking to Canadian news sties to pay Canadian news sites for doing so. The idea is that companies like Google and Facebook are making money by linking to news sites and newssitesshould get a cut of that.
Google and Facebook said that this is bullshit and solved the problem by removing links to Canadian news agencies. This technically complies with the law.
