eli5 regarding fast food satisfaction

Why is it that I feel such satisfaction from eating fast food, yet I’m still so hungry either immediately afterwards or shortly after. Why are “empty calories” called as such and is it related to the feelings of hunger afterwards?

Am I just a fatty, fat, fat or is something else causing this sensation?

Did I ask too many questions for a single eli5 post?

Thanks in advance.

A good analogy of empty calories would be comparing the amount of sugar in a can of coke and the amount of sugar cane you would need to chew to get that same amount of sugar – in short, thats why its called processed food.

Also, as to the satisfaction you get, fast food is created to maximize the palatable attributes of food – fat, sugar, salt, similar to the process above the food gets processed without concern of the proper balance of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and macronitrients (carb,s, protein and fat) leading to tasty but unhealthy food.
