When we remove trash from the sea, where does it go? Does it not just become trash somewhere else on Earth?

Trash in the sea can choke sea animals and disrupt food chains, poison the plants and animals there and just generally wreck havoc. If you could collect it you could burn it, possibly recycle it or bury it in a place it would cause less/no damage to ecosystems. I say “possibly recycle” because recycling plastic comes with its own set of problems and is far out of the scope of this specific question.
Most of the waste is plastic so some of it can be recycled the rest goes into landfill which isn’t quite as bad as it floating around in the oceans.
