“OK” actually stems from a deliberate misspelling of “all correct” as “oll korrect”, made popular in the 1830s as what we would today recognize as a meme. The spelling “okay” then is actually a phonetic representation of what was originally an abbreviation, so they have identical meaning.

Ok is just a very common misspelling of okay.

I think it stems from the days of text messages having limited characters(kinda like Twitter…..) though I barely remember those days
