You sense of balance comes from your inner ear, which has three fluid-filled loops which have tiny hairlike sensors. When you move your head, the fluid moves and its movement is sensed and interpreted as balance. If you spin around and abruptly stop, the fluid can keep moving under inertia, telling your brain you’re moving, while your eyesight tells your brain that you’re still. This conflicting sensual information causes the feeling of dizziness.
