My experience with them was in building resistance heaters.
In the delta configuration, the resistors are essentially in a triangle. Each resistor”s ends connect to the other two resistors. The power connected where two resistors connected together. Essentially the points of the triangle.
In a wye configuration, the resistors all three connect on one point, and the power is hooked to the other end of each resistor. The resistors basically formed a Y and the power connects to each single end.
