Eli5: What is the difference between white head and black head zits?

A blackhead happens when oil and dead skin cells accumulate in the pore. Being exposed to oxygen turns it black, if you get one out you’ll see that the accumulation is white underneath. White heads are pus that develops when a pore gets infected. Sometimes there is a black spot in the middle, that’s the accumulation that blocked the pore and led to its infection. That’s about as much as I know.
