ELI5- What’s the difference between a legally blind person and a blind person?

I’m legally blind. I can still see, but it’s extremely limited. Everything is very blurry. I’m very sensitive to light. I have to wear sunglasses 90% of the time. I can’t really make out fine details, most things are just shapes. People are generally shapes so it’s pretty much a guess when I’m in a crowd as to who ppl are. Colors are iffy. Close objects are okay. Not the best.

Not sure that helps. Oh, this is what I have: I have macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy and neo-vascular glaucoma. I’ve had a stroke.
