(ELI5) when babies are raised with bilingual families, are they learning it as just one jumbled language, or as two separate languages?

Also would it become difficult to discern and seperate them when they join school for example, and interact with people that only speak one

Two separate languages. I’m living proof. And it can become a massive life advantage in areas where both languages are commonly used.

Also, no problem separating them. You sometimes get rarely used words mixed up between the two languages, but it isn’t a big deal, especially since a lot of mostly unilingual people do exactly the same thing!

Nope! No disadvantages here. Only huge advantages!
