Because alcohol dulls your senses, including your sense of taste. After a few drinks you don’t taste aswell, or smell aswell either. So it becomes more bearable because you aren’t really tasting it anymore.
Like using numbing cream on your arm before a bloodtest, alcohol is like using numbing cream on your tounge.
