eli5: Why are some places have the noun “Park” in their name if they are not really parks?

Places such as Highams Park, Chiswick Park, Manor Park in London; Gidea Park in Romford; Raybrook Park in Swindon have the second name being called as “Park”, even though they aren’t parks at all.

So, why are the suburbs have “park” in their names even though they are just neighbourhoods of an urban area?

Gides Park doesn’t even have an actual park there.
