Topical steroids are prescribed because they work. A small number of people experience topical steroid withdrawal, and those tend to be people who were using very strong topical steroids over long periods of time and on large portions of their bodies.
Luckily my eczema is mild and on a small area (my fingertips >:( ), and I can largely control it by avoiding my triggers. But when I have a flare up I can use my betamethosone for a few days and be back to baseline/normal.
