Eli5: why do car doors need to be banged shut, even if slightly? Why don’t they just click shut like normal doors?

Car doors have sealing gaskets that prevent water running off the roof from entering the inside of the car, and to insulate them against road noise and exterior air.

Those gaskets need to be compressed between the door and the frame, so you need more force to close the door.
