Does it not moisturize you?

The skin doesn’t absorb water. It would be crazy if it did, honestly. As far as I know, most moisturizers create a barrier that doesn’t let the skin constantly lose the water that it naturally receives from the body, rather than providing it directly

using water (depends on the quality of the water) on your skin actually dries it out. moisturizers add the oils back to your skin. ingredients like hyaluronic acid can be absorbed by the skin. water cannot be absorbed by the skin. hyaluronic acid can absorb water

If you put water on your skin, it will evaporate. Water can also evaporate from underneath your skin. Oil and water don’t mix. If you put something oily on your skin, the water can’t evaporate from your skin.
