That’s almost certainly blood. You’re exceedingly sensitive to the smell and taste of blood, since if there’s any blood at all outside of your body, something bad is happening.

It’s adrenaline you’re tasting. Any painful Injury causes it to flow, and if there’s a big enough flood of it you can taste it. Sometimes a big fright can cause it too. Helps your body manage the pain and prep your muscles for a fight or flight response to whatever caused the injury/fear.

Not sure about the smell you’re referring to.
