The simple answer is that sure, we don’t NEED two kidneys, but only having one doesn’t make you “healthy”. It makes you “alive”.
Think of it in terms of “system requirements” on computer games. Usually a company will list two sets of specs. The first one is “Minimum requirements”. Sure, these specs will work, but it’s probably gonna be a shitty experience. But then, they list the “Recommended” specs. So these specs are more than is absolutely needed to play the game but it’ll be a lot smoother and efficient experience.
