Dermatology has many, many terms for skin conditions and they each have specific underlying causes. What matters most is what is causing the lesion (a general term for “abnormal thing”). A mild rash could just be an immune system hiccup that clears right away. Whereas a different sort of rash, like say a band of bubbly rashes on your chest could be from shingles which is caused by a virus and takes longer to heal.
