Stuffy noses are caused by spongy tissue in the nasal cavities and sinuses swelling with blood. They’re essentially nose-boners.
Sneezing forces air through the nasal pathways with a lot of force. That can sometimes push the blood out of that spongy tissue, causing a momentarily clear nasal pathway. But the blood comes right back, causing the nose to get stuffy again.
