Eli5 Why does glue stick?

Some adhere to surfaces using secondary bonds (“partial” attraction between molecules). Some adhere by infiltrating pores, then drying to form a composite within the material attached to its outside layer. Some use a combination of those two. Some chemically bond to surfaces entirely.
