If the goal is to conserve energy, why do humans feel good when working out?

Exercise releases the feel-good happy chemicals for most people. 
Even simpler, it’s a sense of accomplishment. I’ve heard recently “you have a million problems until you have a health problem… then you have one problem” basically it’s relieving to know that you have a body that can still kick ass at moving. Even I, who mostly hate the gym, have sometimes come out of a workout thinking “God, I am grateful for a body that moves so well”.
