Eli5: Why is going through menopause not the same as pre-puberty?

Menopause leads to a bunch of side effects and it makes me wonder when kids have yet to reach puberty, why is that state not similar to menopause?

The hormone balance is different during childhood, other hormones are more active (such as growth hormones), and many parts of the body are immature before but aging after. There are also other factors beside hormones to consider.
