Like if you do it in moderation would it still be bad I get that it’s a symptom of anorexia and stuff but I don’t understand

You mean bulimia, not anorexia. Honestly, this is a question I try to reason with myself all the time as a bulimic. It’s doesn’t seem **that bad** in moderation, but it is. The stomach acid destroys your esophagus and can lead to esophageal cancer among other problems. The acid also eats away at the enamel of your teeth. Also, your body expects to be processing food for nutrients and energy as you eat it, and when it’s never able to get to that stage, it sends your system into crisis. So yeah, it’s bad.

1. Stomach acid is usually neutralized by bicarb secreted into your intestines from your blood so if you vomit the acid out you get end up with too much bicarb in the blood which is not good

2. Stomach acid contains chloride so vomiting a lot will deplete chloride in your body.

3. Acid will attack your teeth and destroy your enamel. It will also wreck your esophagus which can rarely lead to esophageal cancer

4. The force of vomiting can cause tears in your esophagus and cause life threatening bleeding. Your body was not design to vomit constantly, its supposed to be an emergency response.

Lastly, your food is absorbed over a long period of time so throwing up after a meal can leave you severely deficient in essential nutrients. If you throw up immediately, you are really only absorbing glucose and no proteins or vitamins
