That the individual is the captain of their own ship. Your own actions determine how your life goes.

In short, you could use Sartre’s quote: existence precedes essence.

There is no pre-defined path or purpose for your life – it is what you make of it. You, and only you, have the freedom to decide how to act, and through your actions, you define what kind of person you are.
