There a lot of factors. It depends on the frequency of light (electromagnetic waves) and the properties/thickness of the material. Radio can go through walls, infrared can’t, visible light can’t, ultra-violet can’t, x-rays can, gamma rays can. What about lead? Radio can go through thin lead, but make it thick enough and it will stop everything.
