For dishwashers, washing machines, etc: why does ECO washing take longer than the normal one (even 4+ hours)? Shouldn’t it be quicker?

The ECO setting is still cleaning the dishes just as well as the normal and power settings. However it uses less power. They do this mostly by decreasing the temperature of the water so it requires less power to heat up and then spends longer time soaking the dishes.
