Given that sound is just a difference in air pressure, how does wind affect sound?

You know how ripples travel on a still pond? That’s sound without wind.
Now say there’s a current or other type of flow in the water and you put ripples into it. It’ll distort some. The stronger the flow the greater the distortion.

Same applies to wind.
