Throughout history, our understanding of emotions has evolved significantly in support of the knowledge at any given time. In ancient times, emotions were often viewed more simply, as immediate reactions to situations eg happy or sad. Over time, as societies developed and knowledge expanded i.e. science, people began to recognize that emotions are complex and influenced by various factors such as culture, personal experiences, and social norms.
The way I see it, the understanding of emotions that we possess now might seem archaic in a few decades.
