How are some garments/shoes advertised as both waterproof and breatheable? Aren’t waterproof materials inherently not very breatheable?

Yes, it’s definitely a very difficult thing for a manufacturer to achieve, and to pull of well is insanely difficult. A waterproof and breathable garment is designed to keep water from getting in, while still allowing it to get out. Often times this effect is enhanced by the addition of pit zips and such but it really is an all around difficult thing to pull off and getting the products to last is a whole other battle
