Smokeless tobacco products, including some nicotine gums, may contain carcinogenic compounds such as nitrosamines, formaldehyde, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These substances are formed during the processing and curing of tobacco leaves and can contribute to the development of cancer.

Nicotine might promote tumor growth by helping small blood vessels to grow to supply the tumor.

[This](https://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-link-between-nicotine-gum-and-mouth-cancer) is all I can find on the subject.
Basically nicotine gum does not cause cancer and there have not been any increases in cancer rates from gum consumers.
