How come man beer bellies aren’t as jiggly as fat lady bellies?

You know the look I mean. Thin legs, thin arms, tiny butt, big round stomach. They look more like a pregnancy, but there’s nothing on there but fat, right? So how come dad beer bellies are more firm than a fat mom belly? They don’t seem to have rolls the way that young fat men or women do. Why???

The “beer belly” is visceral fat against the organs, and underneath the abs. Flabby fat (subcutaneous) is skin level fat overtop them. The visceral fat is therefore much harder. And also more life threatening. As for why, sex hormones (testosterone, estrogen) cause more of it in males for complicated reasons.

Apart from what has been mentioned, if you see an older man with a large and solid looking “beer belly”, that’s a condition known as ascites, which is a symptom of a failing liver and consists of fluid build-up in the abdomen.

Those bellies are rather large but super hard, you can punch them like a boxing bag and the person will hardly feel a thing. Treatment usually involves draining fluid by the bucket load for a few days or surgery.
