How come you can be about to say something and then quickly forget it and not be able to remember it even though it was on the tip of your tongue.

it’s actually called the “tip of the tongue phenomenon” and we don’t really know what’s going on. We DO know that it’s evidence that memory recall, especially with words, occurs in stages, and that when you’re TOTing, your brain is retrieving some of the information it wants but getting stuck somewhere. There’s a couple of specific theories about how this is happening, which are really different ideas about how our memory is stored/accessed by our brains, but I don’t really understand them and I don’t think it’s 5-year-old material.
