How did different sentences (ending with ., ?, !) start to get attenuated the way they are? Was it always same through history and in different civilisations?

If you’re asking about why many languages use the same punctuation marks, it’s due to Western influence.

For example, Hindi is traditionally written with sentences ending in “।” as in “मैंने आम खाया ।” but due to English influence nowadays it isn’t unheard of of to see “मौंने आम खाया.”
