how did people that use wing suits figure out the cliff they’re about the jump off will be the right angle not to kill them?

I’m referring to the videos of (mostly) guys that seem to fly just above the ground for a couple minutes before the cliff drops out and they can deploy their parachute.

Do they figure it out with basic topo maps or do they have a practice dummy l? Seems very risky.

It is very very risky. Lots of people get really hurt or die when doing BASE jumps or cliff jumps in wing suits. Even on normal spots or well known Ones.

But yes, either they’ll only go to well know spots that others have tested and used before, or, if they’re a bit more professional or adventure seeking they’ll research new possible spots possibly using topographic maps and other data. Since experienced people will know what kind of conditions make a good spot.
