How do airplane toilets work?

Just wanting to understand where the suction is coming from when you flush, is it flushing outside the plane??

The aircraft has a vacuum pump onboard that sucks the contents of the toilet out.

There’s a waste tank on the aircraft that has to be drained and rinsed by the ground crew. It’s just as pleasant a process as it sounds.

suction is negative pressure, the liquids/solids are stored in a tank but the air is probably expelled somewhere as an action of the pump

Kinda like a vacuum cleaner if the dust was wet
