how do bean to cup coffee machines keep beans fresh, considering coffee is meant to be kept at cold temperatures?

Do the beans go stale over time in a bean to cup coffee machine? Is it just the outer layer that goes stale? I don’t understand how ground coffee tastes stale after a few days in the fridge but bean to cup coffee machines seem to be designed to keep the beans at room temperature.

Coffee beans are degraded when exposed to light, air, or high temperatures. Keeping them in something airtight, placed somewhere dark, at room temperature, is fine.

Coffee doesn’t have to be kept cool. Beans oxidize but much slower than ground coffee, given that the surface area available for both evaporation and oxidation is significantly increased by grinding.

Because you’re wrong – coffee is not meant to be kept at cold temperatures. You CAN do that, but it’s certainly not required.
