How do birds manage their weight so effortlessly when sitting on thin branches so as to ensure the branch doesn’t break underneath them.

I watch birds land on this tree outside my work and the branches are so thin that it looks like they will break out from underneath them yet they’re so graceful and never break.

Birds are very light – much lighter than they look. Their bones are hollow, and a large part of their apparent volume are just feathers, with a lot of air in between
