When a object internal pressure can’t resist its own gravity.

When you have huge stars what keeps them from collapsing is their high temperatures from the fusion that is happenning. When there’s no more fuel , the whole mass of the object starts to collapse on itself because of gravity. If you have enough mass in a region of space, you have a black hole.

Stars are a balancing act of their own gravity trying to crush them together, and the outward pressure created by fusion within their cores.

When fusion in a star stops (when it runs out of fuel) it collapses in on itself. The largest stars have enough mass and therefore gravity to collapse down all the way to a black hole. A single point containing all the mass of a star.
