how do children heal after being severely burned?

I was wondering if healing from severe burns, like 90% of the body 3 degrees, works different for children. After all, they have to grow up and the skin has to stretch enough, and they have faster cell replacement, right? Does this reduces the permanent damage?

I can’t speak to the science, but my mum accidentally dropped a pan of boiling water on my sister when she was two, and mostly caught her leg. Our family videos from the time show her in a full leg cast.

She’s fine now
