How do compression fractures happen?

78 viewsBiologyOther

Im a young male and an x-ray revealed a poorly healed compression fracture to my T11 vertebrae, which is an expected area for it to occur, except this usually occurs in the elderly from the effects of weakening bones with age. I was never hospitalized and thus it was never treated nor healed properly. My mother has no idea how this could have happened. It causes weakness, soreness, muscle spasms, and nerve pain in the middle of my back and makes it difficult to function. How could such an injury happen to a child?

P.S. I experienced no major accidents or incidents in sports or playing growing up.
