I’m not sure what you’re asking here. It’s a subscription. You pay them money, they get the money, they make money.
Game companies generally get paid to be part of the Xbox game pass.
For most games, nearly all of the money they will make from the game is right near its initial release in direct sales of the game. Putting it on game pass, say a year or more after its release, is a way to make money from it when it stops making any significant amount from direct sales.
For games with upcoming sequels, or upcoming DLCs, etc. Its a way to advertise for the upcoming new titles.
For games with microtransactions, its a way to get more users into their game and hope to make some sales selling, I dunno, a blue trench coat skin or something.
