How do hot drinks or a hot bath cool your body down in summer?

I always heard and read on the internet everywhere, that you should shower hot in summer, not cold. Likewise, you should drink hot tea instead of cold Ice Tea. Why is that? (And is it even true?)

I am currently sweating beyond belief, after drinking tea at 90 degrees outside. That’s why I’m asking. Should I take a cold shower and get my some cold water?

Drinking cold water and taking cold showers will absolutely cool you down quicker than anything warmer.

Drinking something hot might make you sweat more which then might cool you down quicker, but I doubt it is really as effective as drinking soemthing cool.

The reason some people will say to stay away from REALLY cold, intense, things on hot days (like hoping in a freezing shower or chugging freezing cold water) is because the sudden temperature difference can cause different forms of uncomfortable feelings (stomachs aches/muscles craps as examples) but this doesn’t always happen. (Source: take ice baths after athletics on hot days and haven’t gotten a cramp from one.)
