how do internal monologue develop growing up and how would the absence of an inner voice affect your thought process?

Just was thinking about how my inner voice is a mixture of multiple languages, despite talking and writing mainly English. Was curious how inner voice is developed through childhood and how people would function without an inner voice, if that is a thing.
