It shoots a pulse of laser at the material burning away a small dent into it. Computer controls the position of the laser and makes it so the dots are burnt in the right places to form a picture.

Laser engravers are really powerful lasers controlled by computers.

A computer turns the laser on and off really rapidly, causing tiny explosions on a material’s surface. Over time, these explosions evaporate enough material to leave an engraved image.

The computer can also control where the laser is pointing, or move a platform that the material is on, to “draw” an image with the laser.
