Some Podcasts I will listen to have localized ads in them, does everyone who downloads the podcast in a certain city/region get the same ads?

Im no expert but most podcasts “cut away” to ad reads. So it’s not part of the broadcast, they record their whole cast and then they cut into it and insert the ad read clips.
So if the platform supports this, they could inject location specific ads, especially if it’s generic ads and not ad reads by the podcaster themselves. You as the listener likely gave your address to the podcast platform, or you have location services turned on for your phone/laptop… and bam! Local ads injected for you!
I’ve never encountered this tbh. The podcasts i listen to just have the podcasters do ad reads for generic national brands. But i could see how it could work for localization!
