Lamination. The bamboo is split into strips, which are then spread with glue, clamped, and made into flat planks. Those flat planks are shaped into the objects available for sale.

If you examine the bamboo objects for sale, you can see the many small pieces that have been joined together.

They cut it in half lengthwise, then steam it in a kiln til its pliable and flatten it. Kind of like how they make bentwood furniture

Using this cutting board as an example:

It’s not a single sheet of bamboo. It’s a bunch of strips of bamboo glued together to form a flat board, which is then sanded/ground down to round the edges and to form the channels around the edges. You can see in the images that the pattern of the knots is not consistent, which indicates that it’s not a single piece.
