When I was a kid, I remember getting Raid traps that were orange and would result in a conga line of ants carrying the poison back to the colony, many of whom died on the way in some sort of entimilogical genocide. Now they’re white traps and I don’t even notice many ants being attracted to them, but within a day or 2 they mysteriously vanish without a trace. What changed?
Scientists have actually discovered ants learn to avoid traps. The traps still contain insecticides that kill the ants that touch/eat/whatever it, but instead of all the ants running to their death, they steer clear. If you place the trap near their entrance into your home, odds are they’ll avoid going there and thus have no way into your home.
